The California Water Data Consortium (Consortium), a nonprofit organization, is seeking a Program Manager to assist with all aspects of the Consortium’s growth and development. The Consortium was formed in 2019 to support data-informed water management decisions in California in the face of climate change and other pressures on water resources. We amplify efforts to improve water data infrastructure by creating a neutral organizational space to build trust and facilitate collaboration across sectors.
The Program Manager will be an integral part of the Consortium, providing critical administrative, communication, and fundraising support. This is a full-time position offering competitive salary and benefits. The Program Manager will report to the Consortium’s Chief Executive Officer.
In 2016 California passed the Open and Transparent Water Data Act (AB 1755, Dodd), which requires designated state agencies to work together to integrate water and ecological data into a statewide data platform. This data platform will help water managers operate California’s water systems more effectively and help water users make informed decisions based on water availability and allocation.
The Consortium’s shared governance model includes a Board of Directors representing a diverse range of organizations and interests; a Steering Committee, comprising six state agency representatives and five non-state agency representatives; and working groups. These entities work in concert to facilitate public engagement and collaboration to ensure that AB 1755 is implemented in a manner that enables data to be accessible, useful and well-utilized for a variety of water management decisions.
The Consortium is an independent, nonprofit organization that seeks grants and funding from philanthropy; local, state and federal governments; and private donors.
