Lauren Steely

Lauren Steely is a Senior Resource Specialist at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. For 10 years she has worked on improving agricultural water use measurement, developing ag conservation programs with farmers, and cultivating a data science practice within Metropolitan. She brings expertise in remote sensing, data visualization, GIS, and open-source data science. Lauren participated in the Water Solutions Network’s third cohort in 2020 and has served on technical working groups for the California Data Collaborative, OpenET, and the CA Water Data Consortium.

Prior to joining Metropolitan, Lauren worked as a field geochemist, mapping solvent plumes at contaminated sites across the US. She holds a BS in Geology from the University of Maryland and an MS in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UC Santa Barbara.
