On the heels of welcoming our inaugural Steering Committee, I’m happy to announce co-chairs for the CA Water Data Consortium’s (Consortium) Working Groups.
The Consortium will initially be home to two Working Groups: the Data Users Working Group and the Technical Working Group. These groups will bring together diverse voices from Tribes, NGOs, private industry, academia, regional planning entities, and federal, state, and local agencies to implement Consortium priorities and projects and identify new opportunities for cross-sector collaboration that supports data-informed water management in California.
Each Working Group is chaired by a one state agency representative and one non-state agency representative.
The Data Users Working Group will focus on data users' needs and priorities across a variety of sectors and interest groups. This group is chaired by:
The Technical Working Group will identify, develop, and recommend the functional and technical data requirements to support open water data, and support awareness and adoption of best practices by data providers. This group is chaired by:
The four volunteer co-chairs will help identify areas of synergy between the two groups, make recommendations to the Steering Committee, and propose new activities and projects.
Above all, these Working Groups will help ensure our work at the Consortium is deeply connected to the work of practitioners across private, public, and nonprofit sectors. These groups will also help us engage Californians’ tremendous innovative spirit, technical talent, and water expertise to support a more resilient water future for all Californians.
Please join me in welcoming Sadie, Rich, Mahesh, and Rafael. To receive news and invites to upcoming public meetings, sign up today for Consortium email updates.
